Kailua-Kona is no longer the sleepy fishing village it once was for the Royal Hawaiian family. Kailua is the perfect vacation destination for young and old alike with it’s variety of attractions. Take a thrilling big-game sport fishing charter, snorkel in crystal clear jewel-box waters, bask in the sun on white sand beaches, or simply watch the sunset from Kailua Pier.

The Kona side of the island is known for it’s sparkling resorts, home grown Kona coffee, world-class golf courses and white sand beaches. Historic sites abound as well including Pu’uhonua or Hõnaunau National Historic Park known to the locals as simply “place of refuge”. This historical place provides visitors a glimpse into the early culture of the Hawaiian people. Hõlualoa, a small community located above Kailua Village on the slopes of Haualãlai. A gathering place for artists who find the tranquil beauty of the area inspiring. Kealakekua Bay, preserved as a Marine Life Conservation District, is popular with scuba divers, snorkelers and kayakers. At the north end of the bay is the Captain Cook Monument, marking the site of his death in 1779. The Hawaii Gateway Energy Center offers public presentations about aquaculture, ocean thermal energy conversion and ocean water desalination.
